DuPont unveils new productivity solution for dairy applications
Key takeaways
- DuPont has launched the FilmTec MXP RO-8038-FF, a mesh-wrapped reverse osmosis element designed for dairy processors seeking higher productivity.
- The solution offers around 5% more active membrane area and up to 50% higher productivity than conventional mesh-wrapped elements.
- Designed as a drop-in replacement for standard elements, the technology targets milk, whey, and lactose concentration.

DuPont has unveiled the FilmTec MXP RO-8038-FF element, an advanced mesh wrapped reverse osmosis (RO) solution developed for dairy processors seeking greater active area and higher productivity.
The FilmTec MXP RO-8038-FF element is said to offer a drop-in solution that can deliver approximately 5% higher active membrane area and up to 50% greater productivity compared to conventional mesh wrapped elements.
The technology aims to enable dairy processors to achieve higher yields and enhance efficiencies without changing their established operations.
Noel Carr, global dairy market leader at DuPont Water Solutions, says: “The FilmTec MXP RO‑8038‑FF element is our answer to our customers who prefer mesh wrapped technology for dairy production — familiar handling with the meaningful productivity gains FilmTec Hypershell XP elements have become known for.”

“With this new element, dairy processors can achieve higher throughput and more consistent operational performance, all while maintaining the mesh wrapped configuration they trust to produce high‑quality dairy products.”
Improved recovery, less waste
The FilmTec MXP RO-8038-FF element is designed for the concentration of milk, whey, and lactose streams. The solution is said to support higher recovery rates and less wastewater generation.
According to the company, its dimensions align with competitive 8038-sized elements, ensuring seamless changeovers in dairy facilities.
Recently, DuPont launched the FilmTec Hypershell XP RO-8038 element, an advanced RO solution engineered to meet the needs of the dairy processing industry.
The company says that FilmTec MXP elements are designed to enhance productivity in current mesh wrapped systems, and FilmTec Hypershell XP elements can provide improved productivity, more energy savings through reduced bypass, and ease of handling.
FilmTec MXP RO-8038-FF element is among DuPont’s broader portfolio of membrane and ion exchange technologies engineered to support the life sciences and food industries.
Last year, DuPont signed an agreement to acquire Sinochem (Ningbo) RO Memtech to expand its RO manufacturing footprint into China and the Asia Pacific region.
