CPET, fiberboard tray touts 90 percent plastic reduction in the convenience market

The convenience market uses a huge amount of plastic trays, especially for ready meals. Nutripacks’ customers were asking for a more eco-friendly option, so the company created its patented eco-tray. The tray is flat-laminated with a crystallizable pet (CPET) film, it is then tray-erected, top-sealed and no adhesives are used. A huge driver for the company was not compromising on shelf life; otherwise, food waste is increased, Leo Klapwijk, Nutripack’s Commercial Director, tells PackagingInsights at Empack 2019.
